Inside the Glass House: Sound Design for The Oresteia

Join ASDP Chair and Sound Designer Peter Rice as he talks through the sound design of his latest project, The Oresteia at London’s Bridge Theatre. Staged inside a revolving, two-level, glass-walled house that pushed every element of the design to its limits.

With a director demanding a "cinematic vocal" at every moment, Peter faced a rare set of challenges: tracking scenic location in real time with Timax SoundHub, taming high-SPL, high-dynamic-range performances on headset mics using Supertone Clear and Alpha Labs De-Feedback, and capturing actors moving fluidly between rooms — both inside and outside the house with constant foldback adaptations required.

Joined by Sound Associate and Bridge Head of Sound Ryan Anstey, and Timax pioneer Robin Whittaker, they will breakdown the project from build to finished system, with a candid look at how the relationship between Manufacturer, Designer, Associate/PSE evolved across this uniquely demanding project.
